The Accounts Payable & Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the Procurement system orders and interface to Workday General Ledger, to maintain current accounts and assist in purchase orders, supplier relationships, invoicing functions, expense report analysis, YE 1099 reporting, and monthly close.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert (SME) for Procurement System to include the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships to drive operational efficiency, review purchase requisitions for appropriate accounting
  • Perform cost benefit analysis within procurement platform to determine alternative suppliers driving P&L efficiency
  • Review interface files transferred from Procurement system to General Ledger for any accounting or system errors
  • Analyze expense reports for accuracy and eligibility for payment
  • Analyze and Source appropriate solutions for year-end 1099 reporting
  • Manage priorities and meet deadlines including the monthly close timeline set by Leadership
  • Work with vendors to resolve billing differences, terms of payment, and any other discrepancies to ensure Company Cash Flow is maintained at appropriate levels
  • Work closely with the direct supervisor on outstanding payment status, accounts payable aging, and payment disputes/issues
  • Stewardship of maintaining strict confidentiality of vendor information
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field of study
  • 2-4 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Accounting or related field
  • Proficient with Excel, Accounting General Ledger and skilled working within systems
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with Workday

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, typically in a cubicle environment (constant noise, fluorescent overhead lighting)
