The college has served students in the Lewis County region since 1925 and is the oldest continuously operating community college in Washington State. In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Job Description

Centralia College is seeking qualified part-time instructors for our Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) program. This position will include teaching multilevel English Language Acquisition (ELA) courses as identified. Instructional modalities will include face-to-face and hybrid. Course assignments may vary quarter to quarter. This current opening is an evening class (6:00-8:20 pm MTWTh).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and/or update class syllabus

  • Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum

  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments to instruction

  • Create and maintain an environment of rapport and respect

  • Maintain up-to-date appropriate records which indicate student progress and attendance that meet college requirements Complete Faculty Assessment Tool/Project each quarter

  • Present a certificate of completion of Canvas 101, or complete Canvas 101 training within the first two quarters of employment Complete mandatory CASAS trainings for assessment

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in English Language Learning, TESOL, TEFL, Linguistics or other related field from an accredited institution and two years teaching experience in adult learning or high school setting or equivalent experience or combination of education and experience.

  • Experience using technologies commonly used in instruction and office environments, including ability to effectively use learning management systems in all class modalities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree with focus in English Language Learning English Language Learning, TESOL, TEFL, Linguistics or other related field from an accredited institution.

  • Two years teaching experience in a community college or similar setting.

  • Experience in curriculum design.

  • Experience teaching cross-culturally, multi-level classes face-to-face, hybrid and online.

  • Experience implementing Basic Skills requirements of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, e.g., Washington Adult Learning Standards, CCRS familiarity, CASAS, etc.

  • Certificate in Adult Edu, K-12, Special Ed, or TESOL

Conditions of Employment

Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No. 4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO.

COMPENSATION:

Current lecture/lab rates ($963.57 - $1,401.40 per credit)
