Who are we looking for?

GHD's Mid-west Water and Wastewater group is looking for an Advanced Metering Infrastructure - Senior Consultant to join our team in the Midwest Region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in AMI systems, smart grid technologies, and utility operations. This role involves leading AMI projects, providing strategic advice to clients, and ensuring successful deployment and integration of AMI solutions. In the problem solving business, it helps to be restlessly curious to deliver community change.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Project Leadership: Lead AMI implementation projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet technical, financial, and timeline objectives.
  • Client Advisory: Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on AMI strategy, deployment, and best practices.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on AMI technologies, including meters, communication networks, data management systems, and integration with utility operations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, including utility executives, regulators, and technology vendors, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
  • Solution Design: Design and architect AMI solutions tailored to client needs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Data Analytics: Utilize AMI data to drive insights and recommendations for operational improvements, customer engagement, and energy efficiency.
  • Training and Support: Develop and deliver training programs for utility staff and support post-deployment activities to ensure smooth operation and adoption of AMI systems.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in the AMI and smart grid space.
  • Business Development: Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, developing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in the utility industry with a focus on AMI, smart grids, or related technologies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AMI systems, smart meters, communication networks (RF, PLC, cellular), data management, and integration with utility back-office systems.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successfully leading complex projects.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and leverage data to drive decision-making.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
