Compensation Type: SalariedCompensation: $83,713.50Job SummaryThe Assistant Director of Grants Accounting and Reporting directs the activities and functions of accounting and financial reporting for federal, state, local, and private grants received by the College. This individual provides leadership and management for grants accounting staff. This position maintains financial accountability and the accuracy of fiscal information for grants. Responds to requests from agencies, including questionnaires and audits by any agency. Primary responsibility for Schedule of Expenditure of Federal Awards (SEFA) and grants data for annual College audit to ensure completeness and accuracy. This individual works closely with the grants administration office and principal investigators (PIs) to ensure grants are following accounting standards and college policy and procedures as well as all regulations set forth by the funding agency. This individual maintains the confidentiality of employees, students, and other sensitive college information.

Grants Management

  • Active management of all facets of grants accounting management. This includes reviewing budgets, invoicing of agencies, cash drawdown, and reporting as needed to keep grant reporting and cash current.
  • Ensures that PIs receive timely financial information regarding their grants and meets with them to review financial information. Assists PIs with questions related to the financial information for their grants.
  • Coordinates monitoring of sub-recipients financial information to ensure that monitoring is complete, and all assessment and financial reporting is completed timely.
  • Collaborates with grants administration office, human resources, and payroll in all aspects of grant administration. Leads efforts in preparation of facilities and administrative cost rate proposals (indirect cost rate calculation).

General Accounting and Auditing

  • Serves as lead on the College's annual external audit for the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting to the external audit.
  • Provides documentation for both external college audits and any audits and reviews by grant sponsors. Completes questionnaires from funding agency related to grants. Assists with developing corrective action plans and other post-audit requirements.
  • Summarizes financial positions. Prepares financial and operational reports for grants. Documents and may approve business transactions to the general ledger. Reconciles complex transactions.
  • Analyzes, investigates, and corrects accounting entries as needed. Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation.

Operational Leadership

  • Supervises assigned area of responsibility and staff by recruiting and hiring; assigning and delegating tasks; providing direction; resolving work problems; communicating job expectations; training employees; and developing professional growth opportunities.
  • Conducts annual employee evaluations; provides ongoing feedback and coaching; and effectively recommends pay increases, promotions, and other personnel actions. Approves leaves and authorizes overtime, as appropriate.
  • Administers disciplinary actions upon approval and in collaboration with Human Resources, Senior Director, and the Controller. Interprets, explains, carries out, and enforces the College's policies.

Compliance & Enterprise Systems Management

  • Shares responsibilities as module custodian, along with the Director of Grants Administration for Grants module. Develops a deep understanding of and proficiency in the enterprise systems and integration with grants.
  • Makes requests for technical assistance and system enhancements. Develops and maintains business process workflows.
  • Stays current with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform Guidance (2CFR200), and other grant regulations, impacting accounting and financial activities and reporting.
  • Works with grants administration office and PIs to adopt changes that are needed to ensure compliance with changes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
  • Must have at least four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience including supervision of staff.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

*An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.

Schedule: In-person: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
