Baker Botts is looking for an Assistant - Marketing & Brand to join to support the firm’s marketing and communications efforts. The successful candidate will be a polished team player who is service-oriented, collaborative, resourceful, and self-motivated who possesses a mix of marketing and administrative skills. This role is responsible for supporting the Marketing & Brand team by generating, maintaining, and distributing content across the firm’s varied media platforms, compiling data and reports, and managing file repositories. The position will be based in Houston.

The client development team is seeking to fill this role on a temporary basis with the potential for a permanent conversion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Manager – Marketing and Brand
    • Edit, format, tag, and distribute content to multiple audiences across the firm’s varied media platforms – website, intranet, email marketing, social media, media publications, etc.
    • Write content for multiple audiences to be used throughout the firm
    • Compile data, metrics, and reports for email marketing, website, and social media
    • Maintain the review and approval process for lawyer and staff images while also managing the Firm’s lawyer and staff photo libraries
  • Understand and adhere to legal marketing regulations to ensure all materials and communications comply with industry standards
  • Maintain brand integrity and consistency across all platforms
  • Special communications projects as assigned
Knowledge and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in similar roles, applicable intern experiences counts
  • Excellent editorial, verbal, and written communication skills as well as organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of various owned media formats
  • Highly organized and able to adapt to changing priorities and schedules
  • Detail-oriented with pride of work product
  • Strong sense of teamwork and willingness to work closely with team members globally
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to maintain composure and produce accurate work in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment with tight turnarounds, performing the essential duties of the position within time constraints and frequent interruptions
  • Preferred but not required: Digital portfolio showcasing applicant’s own work, including writing samples, audio, video, social media graphics, and printed materials

  • Social Media Platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Oktopost, Clearview Social
  • Content Maintenance & Distribution: Sitecore, Vuture, SharePoint, PitchPerfect, Passle, JDMondaq, Supra
  • PR platforms: Meltwater, Roxhill
  • Creative Production: Adobe Creative Suite, Vimeo, Descript
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extensive periods of time
  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry files and other items up to 15 pounds; and bending and walking
  • Heavy telephone and face-to-face communication with applicants, vendors, staff and clients
  • Must be able to function in a standard office environment
Working Condition and Environment
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • This position is a full-time position requiring a 5-day work week (which is hybrid, requiring three days per week present in the office) and standard hours as outlined in the firm policy manual. Additional hours will be required when necessary to meet established deadlines or stay current with occasional peaks in workload.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
