Overview

Insmed's Research team is seeking an experienced candidate to spearhead drug product formulation and process development, biophysical characterization, stability evaluation, and tech transfer of cutting-edge biotherapeutic candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Lead biotherapeutic drug product discovery/engineering activities across different therapeutic areas.
  • Utilize protein biochemistry/biophysical techniques to inform on optimization of formulation and process to support development candidate nomination.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering procedures to process design and lead tech transfer activities.
  • Present findings in internal and external meetings; author technical reports and publications.
  • Communicate with internal and external partners to progress projects.
Position Requirements (Required and/or Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education):
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Enzymology, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field with 6+ years or MS with 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
  • Solid understanding of molecular biology, cell biology, and protein biochemistry.
  • Experience developing formulations and processes to stabilize protein therapeutics.
  • Protein production experience using prokaryotic and eukaryotic host systems.
  • Experience using automated chromatography workstations (e.g., AKTA FPLCs) and employing multi-dimensional purification strategies.
  • Experience using analytical techniques to characterize proteins including light scattering (e.g., DLS, SEC-MALS), mass photometry, circular dichroism, and thermal stability (e.g., DSC, DSF).
  • Experience investigating biotherapeutic half-life extension is a plus.
  • Target affinity characterization experience (e.g., ITC, SPR, BLI) is a plus.
  • Experience with crystallization techniques (e.g., co-crystallization, seeding, soaking, etc.) and interpreting crystallographic data is a plus.
  • Familiarity with chemistry and protein computational techniques is a plus.
  • A record of scientific publication employing the skills listed above.
  • Experience leading functions and teams is a plus.
  • Familiarity with experiment documentation using electronic lab notebook.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Applicants should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task with multiple projects.

Salary Range

$127,000 - $178,533 a year
