The Department of History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the history of the modern US Military. The standard teaching load is 2/2. Responsibilities include the teaching of one survey course on US military history and courses related to your fields of expertise. Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

The UNC-Chapel Hill Department of History is one of the largest academic departments within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department is committed to the purposes of a research university, to the teaching of history at the undergraduate level as a core discipline in a liberal arts education, and to the training of graduate students.

Position Summary:

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Modern US Military history. Faculty member will be responsible for teaching a 2:2 load while continuing their own research, participating in departmental service, and mentoring undergraduate/graduate students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Ph.D. in History or a related field in hand by July 1, 2025.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
