Texas A&M University - Central Texas is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HIS) in a military-friendly community, serving mainly non-traditional students in the central Texas region. The College of Education and Human Development's Department of Curriculum and Instruction is seeking a full-time professional track faculty member who will join a department that offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs, with a focus on preparing caring, effective educators who can meet the needs of a culturally and linguistically rich student population. We seek applicants who are passionate about preparing teacher leaders and who bring innovative approaches to address the needs of students and school communities.
This is a professional track position and, as such, the faculty member is expected to teach 15 workload credits per semester. Summer appointment is not guaranteed and is contingent upon university need.
Responsibilities
teach undergraduate and graduate courses online, face-to-face, and/or hybrid in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction on both Hutto and Killeen Texas A&M University - Central Texas campuses with particular emphasis on teaching on location at the East Williamson County Higher Education Center (EWCHEC) in Hutto, Texas.
teach and attend meetings on both Hutto and Killeen Texas A&M University - Central Texas campuses.
recruit and build relationships with districts within the Hutto and surrounding area.
work with educator certification programs to meet and maintain state accreditation standards.
provide service to the department, college, and university, including serving on department, college, and university committees as well as recruiting and advising students.
advise undergraduate and graduate students.
use instructional technology effectively to support student learning.
demonstrate skill at being an effective communicator who can collaborate with university and professional colleagues, as well as school district and community partners in a positive and productive manner.
perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
Doctoral degree approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) appropriate to the area of Curriculum & Instruction, with an emphasis in reading and/or literacy.
Minimum of three years' experience as an EC-6 certified teacher.
Possess the minimum credential standards of SACSCOC to teach courses in the C&I Department (i.e., 18 graduate hours in reading and/or literacy).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in higher education.
Experience working in a field-based educator preparation program in higher education.
Experience preparing teacher candidates for state certification exams.
ESL certification
Proficiency in instructional technology, online instruction, and/or effective course design in a variety of course modalities.
Salary: Commensurate
Hours: Faculty hours; M-F; hours may vary by assignment
