Job Description:

Binghamton University, the State University of New York, and Binghamton's Center for Israel Studies announce a search for an Assistant Professor of Israel Studies. The successful applicant will specialize in the study of Israel-Palestine, with training in a social science discipline, such as political science, sociology, or anthropology, or in a broader field such as international relations, legal studies, minority studies, gender studies, immigration studies, and human rights studies.

The Center for Israel Studies hosts three core faculty and a range of affiliated faculty who carry out rigorous and interdisciplinary scholarship on various aspects of Israel and Palestine and apply this scholarship to undergraduate education. Recognizing the value of complex questions, our courses emphasize critical thinking and diverse perspectives on topics including Zionism, Israel, and Palestine. We do so in an independent and non-partisan scholarly space, which does not engage in advocacy. The successful applicant will join the Judaic Studies Department and be expected to teach two courses per semester, pursue an active research agenda, and support the Center, the department, the university, and the community with service. (See more at https://www.binghamton.edu/centers/israel-studies/). The Center for Israel Studies encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds and diverse life experiences, including women and members of underrepresented groups, as well as candidates whose research engages questions or topics that include diversity and equity.
