Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:JOB SUMMARY:The Associate General Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and services to the University across a diverse range of practice areas related to higher education. Primary areas of legal work will vary with demand. This position functions as a generalist, providing services in a variety of subject areas, including employment, contracts, student issues, governance, constitutional law, civil rights, policy development and review, open records, law enforcement, litigation, athletics, construction, real estate, intellectual property, information technology, information security, and ethics/conflicts of interest.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Associate General Counsel works with minimal supervision and is expected to handle legal issues and questions of substantial complexity, sensitivity and have knowledge and skill on legal matters, as well as areas and issues impacting or affecting the University. The employee is expected to be skilled, experienced and capable of independently representing the University as determined by the General Counsel.

Hiring Range:$97,093.00 - $121,367.00
Education:Graduation from an ABA accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree.
An excellent academic record and related experience preferred.
License to practice law in Texas and in good standing with no prior disciplinary record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:
Requires a minimum of seven (7) years as a licensed attorney with experience in contracts, employment law, constitutional law, and litigation.
Experience in contract drafting and employment laws preferred.
