Bone Density Technologist

The Bone Densitometry Technologist works under the general supervision of a physician to perform DXA scans of spine, hip, forearm, whole body, and vertebral fracture assessment (VFA).

This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

This position reports to the Supervisor, Mammography and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required. For those candidates who meet requirements of licensing and registration agencies and have been grandfathered by those agencies, Associate's degree requirement may be waived, but a high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License and Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) required; Credentialing in Nuclear Medicine Technology-through ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) meets the ARRT supporting category prerequisite to train and work in Bone Densitometry and to become registry eligible
  • ARRT certification for Bone Densitometry required within one year of hire
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
  • 1 year of experience preferred; technologists must be trained and capable of handling patients completely from invitro through adult
