Our client is one of Houston's leading Civil Contractors who operates in both the public and private sectors. This company operates in multiple different sectors within the civil construction market, including underground utilities, site preparation, mass excavation and earthworks. The work on a variety of different projects ranged from $500k through to $30Mil. They self-perform all site work and take projects from bidding stage right through to completion. Due to a significant pipeline of work as well as internal promotion, the opportunity has arisen for a qualified chief estimator to join the team.
Your new role
As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for managing an estimating team and preparing complete estimates for underground utilities and site work construction projects.
You will be required to liaise and work closely with owners, vendors, subcontractors and project managers. Some of your duties will include initial contact with the client, reviewing purchase orders, preparing complete estimates as well as providing technical assistance where required.
You will be a key member of the estimating team and will be involved in the pre-construction process right through to the final bid stage. You will be a key member in this growing estimating department and have the ability to grow up within the company.
What you'll need to succeed
You will come from an extensive background in civil construction, ideally with experience in earthworks, utilities and site preparation. Ideally, you will start your career in the field and have some onsite experience. You will have strong communication skills and be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs. You will ideally have experience using HCSS bid assembly as well as some exposure to Procontractor MX.
