Clerk III - Rehab Therapies

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Rehabilitation Therapies is seeking a Clerk III to who under general supervision, performs and coordinates clerical work such as examining and evaluating data according to established guidelines requiring knowledge of both assigned and related work areas. Duties will involve the use of personal computers, computer terminals, and a variety of software and/or conventional office equipment.

• Perform reception duties of patients, visitors and the public
• Perform patient registration and scheduling of appointments both in person and via phone utilizing Epic
• Assist with answering and disposition of department telephone calls
• Assist with billing and insurance tasks as assigned
• Complete reports, word processing and other written work within assigned deadlines
• Perform a variety of functions such as ordering supplies, doing mailings, filing, etc. in a timely and accurate manner
• Incorporate the principles of Service Excellence to ensure positive patient/customer relations
• Adhere to UIHC policies regarding personal conduct, including: confidentiality of staff and patient records, respects established leadership, remains responsive to instruction and coaching from supervisors, and meets the standards of personal appearance, attendance and punctuality
• Demonstrate respect for all members of the University community in the course of performing one's duties and in response to administrators, supervisors, coworkers, and customers; constructively brings forward workplace concerns to coworkers and/or supervisor

Schedule: Rotating Schedule between the hours of 7:45am - 5:15pm Monday - Friday

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
• Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment

Desirable Qualifications
• Previously worked in a Rehabilitation setting
• Knowledge and experience of the EPIC software system
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high transaction volume environment
• Insurance knowledge and ability to process insurance authorizations
• Knowledge of institutional and unit policies, processes and forms
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Highly Desirable
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to manage high volume public contact
• Knowledge of office routines and functions sufficient to refer visitors and telephone calls and to route correspondence by name and functional area
• Knowledge of proper format, grammar, spelling punctuation and capitalization
• Skill in utilizing computer software packages and online systems
