Position Overview
- SGRE is seeking to fill an in-house Commercial Legal Counsel position based out of our Orlando, Florida office. Reporting to the Head of Legal for North America, this is an opportunity to join a team dedicated to providing best-in-class legal advice that is integrated with business strategies and objectives.
- Relocation will not be offered for this role.
Responsibilities: As part of the SGRE legal team, you will primarily perform the following tasks:
- draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and other legal documents supporting bids in the renewable energy sector, including wind turbine supply/service agreements, and other ancillary agreements;
- identify business and legal risks and make recommendations on how issues should be addressed to mitigate exposure and minimize corporate liability, while remaining competitive in the industry;
- strategically handle contract disputes, warranty claims, and potential breach of contract issues;
- use knowledge and resources to improve templates, tools and methods for efficient contract review; and
- coordinate with in-house counterparts in other business areas and jurisdictions.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:In order to succeed in the role of Commercial Legal Counsel, you will:
- have 10-12 years of commercial legal experience obtained in a large or medium sized in-house legal department or law firm and strong academic credentials (JD required);
- be comfortable taking a lead role in a negotiation setting;
- have attention to detail, be highly self-motivated, have excellent organization skills and the capability to effectively manage priorities while meeting strict timelines; and
- be willing and able to travel outside Florida and, occasionally, outside of the United States, as required, for contract negotiations and business conferences.
