Job Description:
The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a motivated individual to join our Office of Economic Assistance Team and fill the role of Community Support Specialist. In this position, the Community Support Specialist will act as a DHHS liaison for our Central Nebraska Region, which encompasses 33 counties from Perkins County to Hamilton County.
The Community Support Specialist:
•Is responsible for providing training to community partners on an individual basis throughout the year and during related to Economic Assistance programs and other assistance programs throughout DHHS.
•Provides outreach and education to the public via speaking engagement, booths, and engaging in partnership building activities within the community.
•Is expected to assist individuals in their communities with resources outside of DHHS programs.
Hiring Rate: $21.420 per hour - Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Dress Attire: Business Casual

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in social work, human services, public administration, human development, social sciences, psychology, public relations or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Economic Assistance, Medicaid, or other social services.
- Experience in facilitating meetings and networking.
- Experience in training/teaching/coaching a broad range of topics.
- Bilingual; previous experience with case management or service coordination.
- Current or recent engagement with various partners in the service area.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of: leadership techniques; coordination of people and resources; principles and practices of social work; principles of individual and group interaction; awareness/understanding of sociological factors influencing human behavior; federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, programs and services pertinent to Economic Assistance programs; investigative techniques including collection of evidence, interview techniques, data analysis, evaluating facts and drawing conclusions.
Skill in: gain rapport and assess stakeholder needs; meeting facilitation; conflict resolution.
Ability to: communicate ideas clearly and concisely; train and instruct stakeholders; work independently; investigate circumstances and draw applicable conclusions; interpret, explain and apply state and federal laws and regulations; analyze situations and develop recommendations; develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with agency staff, service providers and partners; develop and conduct presentations.
