Job Title:Data Management SpecialistDepartment:Student Life | Dining Services

Job Summary

Reports to the Associate Director of Dining Services. The Data Management Specialist will work independently to maintain and oversee data entry of meal plan additions, changes, and adjustments to student meal plan accounts with a high degree of precision and efficiency. Coordinates and facilitates dining plans under firm deadlines for approximately 17,000 university students. Maintains over 1000 off-campus patron files to be uploaded each fall and spring for off-campus meal plans.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Input, edit, transfer, and verify dining plan data in various software including, but not limited to, StarRez, Transact, Nelnet, and SLTS designed platforms such as the Dining Services website.

  • Processes account charge payments and returns for dining plan holders and professional communication methods with students and parents via; email, telephone, and walk-in requests.

  • Hires, trains, and develops a group of 2-4 student staff yearly to support them with menu and location adjustments including, but not limited to: hours of operation adjustments, hardware resets from one-view dashboard, access management for new users and menu additions and edits year-round.

  • Creates and processes various key performance indicator reports for multiple time-periods, including: transaction and sales data, menu item sales data, food delivery, dining plan management, and other key aspects of the business as needed.

  • Collaborates with the operations team to create the yearly menu deadline and change collection processes for the department's 100+ location menus in the Grubhub one-view menu management software; or through Grubhub support as needed.

Qualifications:

Required: 2-4 years of relevant work experience. Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Hospitality Management, Computer Science or a relevant field or equivalent experience. Strong and accurate data entry and typing skills. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desired: Large amounts of accurate data entry experience. Advanced knowledge of Excel, including formulas and pivot tables. Digital menu management and menu organization experience. Familiarity with StarRez, Transact, and Grubhub OneView Advanced Editor.

The Ohio State University's Student Life Dining Services is a premier campus dining department dedicated to serving students, staff, faculty and guests. Critical to the Residential Experience, Dining Services administers the student meal plan to approximately 15,000 residential students on the Columbus, Mansfield, Marion, Newark and Wooster campuses.

The target hiring range for this position is $58,700 - $77,200 annually.
