Job Summary: Desktop Engineer

This role is critical for managing and advancing the desktop infrastructure to ensure seamless operations. The Desktop Engineer will lead efforts in system design, implementation, and troubleshooting for desktop environments, focusing on transitioning to modern technologies and enhancing efficiency. This position is going to require *some* on-site presence and is a long-term, permanent need.

Top Required Skills:

• Desktop Infrastructure Expertise: End-to-end understanding of Windows desktop environments, including migrations (Windows 10 to 11), wireless certs, VPNs, and Group Policy.
• Microsoft Intune & SCCM Transition: Proven experience transitioning from SCCM to Intune, refining Autopilot processes, and managing Azure AD-joined devices.
• PowerShell Proficiency: Advanced scripting skills for automation, deployment, and troubleshooting without reliance on external resources.
• Application Packaging & Patching: Proficiency with MSI installers, 3rd party patching, and software distribution.
• Cloud Integration: Experience with Azure, Conditional Access, and optimizing hybrid infrastructures.
• Troubleshooting Expertise: Level 3 support for complex hardware, software, and network issues.
• Strategic Insight: Ability to evaluate existing systems, recommend improvements, and perform knowledge transfer to internal staff.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• At least 7 years of enterprise-level desktop engineering experience.
• Hands-on expertise in Intune, PowerShell scripting, and Windows Autopilot.
• Proven success in high-level troubleshooting and infrastructure optimization.
• Strong communication and documentation skills for collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with transitioning to modern, cloud-based infrastructures in manufacturing environments.
