F&G is hiring for aDirector, Government & Regulatory Affairs. This role will manage F&G activities to achieve effective and time-sensitive advancement of F&G legislative and regulatory agenda in a coordinated and integrated fashion.

This position will work closely with the Senior Vice President, Chief of Government, Regulatory & Compliance Affairs and other key leaders, including other enterprise staff, to advance these goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze, track and monitor legislation, regulations, and other proposals as needed across federal, state & local government, working with external consultants and industry related organizations from time to time.
  • Identify opportunities for the advancement of legislative and regulatory initiatives.
  • Support F&G's policy positions for federal, state & local regulation and legislation at relevant meetings and public hearings, both orally and in writing.
    • Interface, monitor and liaison with industry trade groups, including ACLI, IRI and others
    • Interface, monitor and liaison with regulatory bodies including the DOL, SEC, state and local government and others
  • Ensure an integrated approach to deliverables by collaborating with senior leaders across F&G, working with the Senior Vice President, Chief of Government, Regulatory & Compliance Affairs and key division leaders to accomplish this key metric and in a manner responsive to internal and external demands and deliverables in an integrated and highly effective manner.
  • Support special projects within the scope of the Senior Vice President, Chief of Government, Regulatory & Compliance Affairs and assist with strategy development & cultivating reports for senior management.
  • Manage and lead the internal Regulatory Monitoring Working Group and coordinate initiatives as needed within the business.
Experience and Education Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required; Advanced degree (including J.D.) preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years experience working in government regulatory affairs with 5 years working in Financial Services
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Relationship Management: Adept at the day-to-day work of maintaining relationships and messaging to external stakeholders. This includes executing and tracking email communications, hosting webinars, developing, and providing periodic updates to staff, and similar tasks.
  • Advocacy: Ability to influence, negotiate with, and build consensus with others.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with ease across teams in a complex organization, contributing to cohesive efforts to achieving advocacy strategies in support of business objectives.
  • Consistency and Reliability: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product.
  • Integrity: Maintains the highest levels of ethical conduct and integrity
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
