Job Title:Electronic Learning Development Senior SpecialistDepartment:Arts and Sciences | Distance Education

The Electronic Learning Development Senior Specialist for the College of Arts and Sciences (ASC) Office of Distance Education provide expertise and guidance in the development and support of online, hybrid, and in-person courses, focusing on those with technology-enabled teaching needs. This involves collaborating with faculty and staff on the development of high-quality distance education courses, activities, and other curricula that incorporate best practices in course design, pedagogy, educational technology use, and accessibility. The Electronic Learning Development Senior Specialist performs job duties with a prominent level of autonomy and proficiency in work and resource prioritization with check-ins to right-size and coordinate projects and collaborations with the Manager of Electronic Learning Development. The Electronic Learning Development Senior Specialist partners with faculty and subject-matter experts to identify curricular, design, and professional development needs in support of strategic goals and emerging trends. They will manage instructional design projects to successful completion. They will provide training and assist instructors to develop distance education courses and modules using university-approved tools such as Canvas as well as College-supported tools such as H5P, ThingLink, and Hypothesis. Consult on course development plans including helping align learning objectives to course assessments and effective learning activities and materials. Manage the development of activities and structure of courses within learning management systems. Provide resources, support, guidance, and workshops to instructors on best practices in technology-enhanced course design. Design and deliver departmental workshops and consultations in support of effective teaching, course design, adoption and use of college or university-wide initiatives and tools, integrating technology tools, and more as needed. Network and engage with interested faculty and staff within ASC through our learning community and other university groups and initiatives as assigned. Engage with outside professional organizations to improve the course design process, discover, and evaluate innovative technologies, and build strategic partnerships.

Required: Bachelor's Level Degree or combination of experience and education in instructional design or related field. Four years of relevant experience in instructional design, online course development, teaching, and/or instruction. Experience managing production processes for curriculum and instruction projects. Minimum 2 years of experience utilizing a learning management system (LMS), such as Canvas. Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance mechanisms in course design (Quality Matters). Demonstrated knowledge of learning technologies and their effective application in course design. Knowledge of universal design for learning, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), accessibility standards, basic HTML, CSS, and web design principles. Experience managing multiple projects, balancing competing priorities and deadlines, data tracking and assessment practices, and collaborating on diverse teams. Experience working independently and as part of a team. Ability to effectively communicate in multiple formats with subject matter experts and other stakeholders.

Desired: Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in higher education teaching and learning. Experience supporting online education & technology enhanced teaching through teaching consultations and professional development opportunities. Experience training others to use innovative technological tools to enhance teaching through a variety of media.

The pay range for this job profile is $58,700- $77,200. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.

This will be for two positions.
