EMS LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Salary Range: $25.00 hr

Position Status: Part-Time Temporary / *Not to exceed 29 hours/week

This is a grant-funded position under Perkins V legislation. This position's activities must directly and uniquely benefit career and technical education students. It is contingent upon the

notice of funding approval. This appointment is for the specified grant period July 2024 - June

2025. Employment beyond the expiration date of the grant is dependent on continued funding.

JOB SUMMARY

The EMS Laboratory Technician is responsible for communicating with the EMS Director concerning equipment needs while maintaining ambulance simulators' video capabilities, lab set ups, and other related work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lab responsibilities include: requisitioning supplies, coordinating software use, scheduling equipment use, returning equipment, and filing software.
  • Work with multimedia equipment, and aiding students and faculty in the use of equipment.
  • Ensure the maintenance of multimedia equipment.
  • Attend EMS team meetings to better coordinate the use of the laboratory.
  • Participate in the recruitment of students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the EMS Director, Healthcare Department Chair, or Dean.

EQUIPMENT

Work activities routinely involve work with personal computers and peripheral devices including laboratory, EMS and multimedia equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to use and operate required laboratory tools and equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public, and other employees.
  • Knowledge of effective interpersonal skills.

JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma
  • Certification Requirement: Advanced EMT Certification
  • Experience with computer and multimedia equipment helpful.

JOB LOCATION

The Health and Science Building at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, TN is the primary workplace. Occasional travel to off-campus instructional sites within the College's five-county service area may be necessary.
