About the role:
Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division currently has an opening for an Engineer position in Mossville, Illinois. This will be a multifaceted position with responsibilities that include but are not limited to, delivering quality improvements, support product introduction, salvage development, as well as cost improvements. This opportunity presents candidates with the ability to impact global sustainability, gain deeper understanding of the Caterpillar Remanufacturing business, and support development of solutions to be implemented in a manufacturing environment.

Job responsibilities will Include but are not limited to:

  • Improving the quality of remanufactured hydraulic components
  • Quality process maintenance & development
  • Validation of hydraulic remanufactured components & processes
  • Working remanufactured hydraulic components cost reduction opportunities
  • Evaluating hydraulic service parts offerings for remanufacturing opportunities
Skill Descriptors:
  • Analytical Thinking: Working Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Working Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Technical Excellence: Working Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Team Management: Basic Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Working Knowledge of design for manufacturability guidelines, methodologies, and use cases; ability to use this knowledge to optimize product designs and manufacturing operations.
  • Engineering - MFG: Working Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Product Testing: Working Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Working Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Manufacturing, or Materials Science curriculum.
Top Candidates Will Have:
  • Product support experience along with demonstrated understanding of quality & reliability (BiQ, APQP, quality assurance tools, techniques, processes, etc.)
  • Demonstrated RCCA understanding & execution
  • Manufacturing experience/exposure
  • Product engineering experience & demonstrated understanding of the NPI & CPI process
