Job Title: Engineer Electric Maintenance

Reports to: Supervisor - Electric Maintenance Eng
Location: In Office, Rochester NY

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $76,186- $95,233

JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

The engineer will lead participate in teams/projects to solve complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Perform substation maintenance duties including planning, implementing preventive maintenance plans, develop equipment specifications and standards, perform analysis, able to work independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks. Actively participates in industry associations such as Doble Committees, IEEE, EPRI, CEATI.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

Plan and implement an RCM methodology for substation equipment maintenance and testing (20%) Perform engineering analyses, design and calculations using standard methodology and principles. Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services.(15%) Provides technical expertise and leadership for substation operations personnel and contractors to implement planned maintenance. Review equipment inspection and test results. Document and keep current accurate asset records to track equipment life cycle.(15%) Determines installation and operating requirements and evaluates new products, manufacturers and contractors and research new technology(5%) Document and keep stakeholders informed of equipment failures, service advisories and abnormal conditions to ensure safety and reliability (5%) Develops substation standards, equipment specifications, and framework agreements thru a standardize approach for all operating companies (10%) Performs substation equipment/facilities inspections and develops a method for evaluating the risks associated with the equipment & facilities base on a Failure Modes and Effects (5%) Apply problem, cause, remedy failure analysis to support maintenance corrective actions and decisions on asset replacements (20%) Assists with special initiatives on global practices and substation management developing scope, schedule and budget (5%)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or equivalent experience. MS or MBA a plus
  • At least 2 years of experience in T&D electric utility design, operations and maintenance.
  • Substation maintenance and test experience preferred.
  • Certification: registration as a Professional Engineer a plus.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Highly developed verbal and written communications skills.
  • Effective in managing multiple priorities and an effective team player.
  • Possess an in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in electric utility maintenance activities, along with related business practices and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of leading edge techniques or technology thru participation in professional associations.
  • Ability to explain difficult concepts and influence others.
  • Demonstrates high level of oral/written communication and interpersonal competencies.
  • Ability to participate effectively on a team of diverse individuals and mentor others.
