Role Definition

Responsible for leading thermal management systems and component concept and development work in support of Electrification NTI and NPI programs.

Interface directly with Project Technical and NPI Leads to establish functional requirements, define thermal management system technical specifications, provide technical guidance and work with GTMS design staff to develop, analyze, and validate thermal management systems and components to meet these requirements.

Provide thermal management cooling system technical support in the resolution of NTI, NPI and current product issues and implementation of cost reduction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Concepting, developing, and production implementation of component and systems and solving complex problems.
  • Working with Machine, Stationary Energy or Engine Customers translating requirements into cooling system and component requirements and specifications.
  • Working with Product Group platform and performance leads, analysis groups, lab test engineers, PPG/TPG test engineers, software and controls, electronics, bearing, sealing, bolted joint groups, product health engineers, service reps and suppliers.
  • Establishing and validating component design life. In depth understanding of thermal, temperature, linear, torsional, pressure, manufacturing (residual, preload) loading conditions and understanding of the different duty cycles machine, mobile equipment, locomotive, and stationary energy that can affect component life. Utilizing existing and developing new methods for establishing analysis, lab and field life correlation.
  • Leading projects from concept to production. Interacting with, gaining buy-in, and presenting to, engineers, managers, chief engineers, product managers
  • Establishing development plans constructed to align with TRL and NPI gateway reviews including monitoring the specific sub-component development and system development performance.
Top Candidates will also have
  • HV and LV component development with machine, mobile equipment or stationary energy electrical system, software and controls integration.
  • Refrigeration system and component development, controls and integration.
Degree Requirement

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.

Team Management: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

Requirements Analysis: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Product Design and Development: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
