The Office of Research and Innovation at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is committed to promoting a culture and environment for success in research, scholarship, creative endeavors, and economic development. Conducting novel and impactful research that generates new knowledge, solves real-world problems, and enhances lives is among the most fundamental purposes of the institution. The External Recognition and Awards Lead will contribute to this critical aim by: 1) building, leading and serving as a thought partner to a team of research development professionals focused on advancing the pursuit of external recognitions and honorific awards for UNL faculty; 2) researching potential award opportunities relevant to UNL faculty, partnering with administrators and others to identify faculty competitive for awards and honorary society memberships, and disseminating relevant faculty award opportunities to the campus community; 3) coordinating and monitoring the award nomination process and assisting with the development, writing, and editing of award nomination materials; 4) monitoring data regarding the number of faculty receiving external awards and memberships in honorary societies and partnering with key stakeholders to help promote and recognize awards that are earned; and 5) coordinating with the Director of Research Development, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Development, and other UNL administrators to enhance knowledge sharing and strategic coordination.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years of complex writing experience at a public, private, or non-profit organization. The individual in this position must have excellent writing and editing, project management, interpersonal communication, and critical thinking skills and exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly become familiar with subject matter in a wide variety of scientific and scholarly disciplines. This individual must be skilled at developing and managing productive relationships with constituents from diverse backgrounds and excel at developing high-quality written products in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree and Experience working with administrators and/or faculty at an institution of higher education; experience developing and serving as primary author of award nominations and/or grant applications. Familiarity with UNL's faculty and strengths; broad knowledge of nationally prestigious awards and guidelines for preparation.
