A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Finance Manager for Montrose's Laboratory Services business (Enthalpy Analytical) will work within a national team of Operations and Finance professionals and interact regularly with other departments in the organization. Enthalpy Analytical is a national network of accredited laboratories and your single source for comprehensive environmental laboratory testing services. Our team of scientists, industry specialists, project managers, and analysts have decades of experience in supporting the testing needs of the public sector, private industry, and governmental agencies. The Laboratory Services business line is a high growth revenue segment of Montrose Environmental Group, with offices across the U.S.

In this role, you will assist with financial planning and analysis, operational accounting and other finance tasks including: budgeting, forecasting, performance tracking and analysis, management reporting, transaction analysis and cash-flow management, and for overseeing a team responsible for operational back-office support, including project administration and purchasing coordination, etc. These duties require considerable confidentiality, initiative, tact, maturity and independent judgment. The person must possess strong interpersonal and organization skills. This position will report directly to the Enthalpy Operations Controller.

As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
  • Responsible for supervising a team of approximately 2-4 staff
  • Support month-end financial close process to ensure accurate revenue recognition and all accruals and expenses are submitted timely and accurately.
  • Oversee audit request from the internal and external audit teams
  • Manage CAPEX spend with budget
  • Assist Operations Controller with monthly review and variance analysis of the P&L vs. budget and forecast. Responsible for updating variance analysis commentary in the financial system.
  • Review actuals against budget/forecast with regional operations team to provide details for flux analysis.
  • Assist with the management of annual budget process for the business
  • Assist in developing forecasts/models, incorporating booked backlog and pipeline, for submittal to FP&A team.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as FP&A, Corporate Accounting, GBS Accounts Payable, GBS Credit & Collections, M&A, Tax, & Legal to ensure both financial and legal compliance.
  • Analyze and interpret business trends to drive operations financial strategy for the region
  • Liaison with Corporate Accounting and Corporate Finance teams
  • Standardization and continuous improvement of Operations back-office processes as business requirements evolve.
  • Participate in cross-functional Finance and Operations teams programs to develop reporting/process changes required to improve business visibility/efficiency
  • Coordinate / participate in special projects that may arise for Finance/Accounting or Operations
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of Finance managerial experience, preferably in Public Accounting, or corporate accounting team with a $50M company (publicly traded company experience preferred).
  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SOX internal control frameworks, FP&A and financial reporting requirements
  • Advance Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Experience with Workday Financials software preferred
  • Thrives and works well with others in fast-paced, highly demanding environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail, hands-on and results focused
  • Ability to deliver thoughtful, accurate and timely work product
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Self-starter and effective time management/prioritization skills
  • Occasional travel required
