Summary:
Performs the duties required of the Flow Cytometry Specialist. Functions independently in order to manage all aspects of research related projects. Communicates with the users of the facility regarding their specific research project needs, troubleshoots technical aspects related to equipment or experimental design associated with the research projects, performs routine maintenance of equipment and associated supplies, provides accurate quotes for services provided.
Interprets the data sufficiently to detect if there are anomalies that should be reported to the supervising flow cytometry specialist or the directors.
Assists users of the facility in experimental design, instrument set up, data acquisition and analysis.
Performs established quality control routines and required maintenance procedures on the cytometry equipment.
Performs data analysis and reporting on cytometry data sets using established analysis templates using the relevant analysis software packages in coordination with the Supervising Flow Cytometry Specialist.
Shares the responsibility of executing routine type of experimental procedures with the Flow Cytometry Specialist I, including sample processing and data acquisition of clinical research samples received in the lab as part of clinical research trials; maintains reagent supplies, titers reagents, performs panel validation assays; shares user room duty (being available for questions and troubleshooting the flow cytometry equipment during business hours); shares routine instrument setup and maintenance responsibilities; contacts vendors when necessary to obtain quotes or to seek help with instrument or reagents issues.
The salary range is $30.17 to $38.10 hourly which includes a comprehensive benefits package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
1. Master's degree in biological science or a related discipline and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time flow or imaging flow cytometry experience; or
2. Bachelor's degree in biological science or a related discipline and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time flow or imaging flow cytometry experience.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
