POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the supervision and management of the food service area.
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISION
Supervises and manages all kitchen/food services staff to include Job Corps, Work-Based Learning and Leisure Time Student Workers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
o Manages and oversees the overall Center food preparation activities to include the Student Store/Snack Bar.
o Manages the dining room, to include student monitors, student behavior and Food Services department.
o Ensures quality control, plans menus, coordinates food purchases and manages food services budget.
o Oversees food preparation for special functions.
o Researches, develops and recommends new menu items.
o Coordinates the preparation and availability of box lunches for Work Based Learning students and students off Center for other reason.
o Ensures compliance with all USDOL and Job Corps guidelines and directives.
o Participates as an active member of the Centers HEALs (Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyles) Committee. May serve as the chairperson of the HEALs Committee.
o Ensures sanitation compliance and the overall cleanliness of all food service areas.
o Ensures compliance with OSHA standards. Ensures compliance to applicable state and local health department guidelines as they apply to food services operations for food handling, preparation, serving and sanitation.
o Responsible to operate the evening snack program.
o Conducts student surveys and meets with SGA per company policy.
o Provides superior customer service at all times.
o Ensures all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.
o May transport students to and from Center.
o Interviews and recommends for hire, disciplines and evaluates performance of the direct report staff. Fills staff vacancies in a timely manner.
o Effectively motivates, empowers and requires staff to perform his/her job responsibilities. Employs sound time-management and delegation skills. Holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression and disciplines staff that fail to meet goals.
o Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
o Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
o Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
o Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
o Provides quality services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement requisite services.
o Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
o Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected.
o Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
o Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.
o Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree from an accredited school and one year of management/supervisory experience required. Degree requirement may be substituted with 5 years Food Service Supervisory Experience. Three to five years in institutional food preparation and technical training preferred. Must have or be able to obtain ServSafe credentials.
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
