GME Assistant Director for Educational Innovations

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics (UIHC) Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office is seeking a and Academic Program Management & Services Manager to provide administrative and operational support and oversight for critical central educational initiatives such as helping new resident physicians transition from medical school to residency. Particularly, this position supports the Transitions Steering Team and requires discretion, independent judgement, budget management, scholarly reports, and attention to detail. Maintaining confidentiality is critical.

Position Responsibilities:

Information Management

  • Using independent judgement, create and maintain a data base of interns for each participating residency program capturing demographics, tracking submission of forms, and tracking survey results.
  • Develop and manage a faculty participant database to include demographics and survey results, and to track participation hours.
  • Use critical thinking and complex decision-making skills to appropriately manage and interpret data.
  • Collate survey data.
Administration
  • Provide administrative oversight to the Transitions Project, Clinical Teaching Collaborative, and the annual competitive proposals for GME Innovation Funding.
  • Provide leadership/oversight for project budgets.
  • Triage and/or respond to queries and requests for information regarding the Transitions project.
  • Serve as an institutional expert on UME to GME Transitions.
Project Management
  • Provide leadership for the strategic planning process, guiding the future direction of these transition initiatives.
  • Propose, develop, and implement new initiatives and work processes.
  • Oversee the coordination and management of complex schedules to organize meetings and workshops.
  • Oversee the preparation of workshop materials and reserve meeting and workshop space.
  • Provide staff support during workshops and events.
  • Oversee the preparation of intern orientation packets.
  • Oversee the development of materials and exhibits for presentations, reports, and summaries.
  • Develop and disseminate communications with Program Coordinators, Faculty, Clinical Skills Program staff, and project participants.
  • Collect and retain relevant project documents and receipts.
  • Collaborate to create continuing improvement of work processes.
Reports
  • Collect data and develop, maintain, and distribute project reports
  • Develop and maintain project databases to provide outcomes information and relevant decision support
Other
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or appropriate combination of relevant experience and education
  • Minimum of one-year related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality
  • The ability to interpret, apply, and communicate policies, rules, and standards
  • Significant experience working collaboratively with leadership and support staff
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience in GME
  • The ability to track, produce, analyze, and depict quantitative and qualitative data
