Educational and Experience Requirements:Baccalaureate degree required. Applicant must be a current graduate student at SHSU and have a combination of applicable education, experience, and training.Primary Responsibilities:Selected Graduate Student Research and Administrative Assistants will assist with the assessment, administration, and event planning of the NSF (National Sciences Foundation) HSI (Hispanic-Serving Institution) Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) grant funded project. The project goal is to train instructors, teaching assistants, and tutors/mentors in instruction and culturally responsive practices to improve STEM undergraduate retention and grades. Assistants will be trained in all areas (assessment, administration, event planning) to perform job duties as needed. This position will be spread amongst 3-4 employees.Assessment - Graduate Assistants will assist with data disaggregation, analysis, and dissemination of project data. This may include pulling reports from Blackboard, working Culturally Engaging Campus Environments survey data (https://nite-education.org/the-cece-model/), and with a modified version of the TDOP (Teaching Dimensions Observation Protocol) coding system to observe and code recorded classroom instruction (http://tdop.wceruw.org/).Administration / Event Planning - Performs administrative assistant duties: Assist in developing policies and interprets policies and procedures. Schedules appointments and activities. Compiles, tracks, and reviews data and reports. Attends meetings and takes notes. Prepares, reviews, revises and distributes documents and correspondence. Assist in ordering and maintaining supply inventory. Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Transporting materials across campus, to events. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve problems of a repetitive nature.
