Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The role of the HR Specialist includes coordination and execution of division benefits; leave of absence management; workers' compensation administration; implementing wellness initiatives, and providing HRIS support. The role will be responsible for administering FMLA including coordination with multi-state leave laws and company short-term sick pay and long-term disability plans. The HR Specialist will also take a lead role in providing HRIS guidance to users to help implement and maintain processes and procedures in support of NRF HR and business strategies.

• Demonstrate behavior consistent with Nucor vision and values.
• Oversee various employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, short-term and long-term disability, 401K, and flexible spending plans.
• Develop open enrollment communication strategies with regional HR teams.
• Champion Wellness Initiative and prepare materials for monthly wellness and safety meeting for sharing with regional HR teams.
• Manage leave of absence program and coordinate oversight with regional benefit administrators to address programmatic issues and recommendations for process improvement.
• Manage the maintenance of the Product Group HRIS/Timekeeping system, ensuring consistency and integrity of data.
• Oversee HRIS support tickets with regional SME's and ensure timely resolution, knowledge share solutions with other users.
• Provide guidance to all levels of teammates regarding employee relations issues and policy interpretation.
• Act as backup to Payroll Administrator in times of absence or heavy workload.
• Manage Student Scholarship Program
• Perform workers' compensation reporting including first report of injury; loss run and lost time reporting; and work with management and WC carrier to manage claim.
• Coordinate Service of Process notices for timely administration.
• Produce HR metric reports including turnover, headcount, and system audit reports, and support ad-hoc reporting requests as needed.
• Perform other related duties as needed in support of HR and business needs.

What You Need to Know
• Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• Bachelor's degree in related discipline with minimum of 5 years' experience in HR role
• Extensive experience with web-based human resources platforms
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) with reporting capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SAP/Success Factors
• Working knowledge of Dayforce (Ceridian) HR/Payroll Web Application
• Benefits administration
• Experience working in multi-state HR support environment
• Experience in manufacturing or construction HR support environment
