Position Summary:

Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.

The Family Worker will support parents and guardians of individuals with first episode psychosis in a digital intervention at two clinics in North Carolina as part of a research study. Altitudes is a digital platform for parents and guardians of individuals with first episode psychosis which consists of therapeutic content and a social media newsfeed. The Family Worker will interact with and connect families on Altitudes. In this capacity, they will post on the social media newsfeed of the Altitudes platform and will respond to family member's posts. They may also lead monthly or bimonthly virtual family member hangouts with participants in the Altitudes platform. Their caseload will be up to 20 individuals.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Applicant must be the parent or guardian of an individual who experiences and receives (or has received) care for psychosis (e.g., schizophrenia, schizoaffective, other specified schizophrenia spectrum disorder).

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Preference will be given to parents and guardians who have a family member that has received services from a first episode clinic (i.e., 'coordinated specialty care' CSC) for at least one year and those who have attended family therapy or multi-family group at a CSC program for at least one year.
