We have various physical implementation internships across our hardware teams. These opportunities are available within: Central Engineering Systems, Solutions Engineering Implementation, and Partner Enablement.
Each Group offers a new perspective and challenge within the Hardware Career pathway! In your role, you will be introduced to the teams, our ways of working, be treated like any other engineer on the team and supported by experienced engineers!
What you could be doing as a Physical Implementation Intern?
- Physical design and implementation of CPU & GPU cores, SoC and other Arm IP.
- Develop your back-end design skills while connecting frontend RTL, synthesis, power, timing and test for design closure.
- Work on actual cases from our customer base leading you to understand PPA tradeoffs, EDA capabilities, sub-nanometer effects, etc.
- Implement blocks of varying complexity around system interconnect, CPU and GPU cores, as well as other outstanding Arm IP.
- Identify optimization opportunities through experimentation and data analysis.
We are looking for individuals who:Are currently enrolled and studying towards an Electrical or Computer Engineering Degree (Bachelors, Masters or PhD students welcome).
- Strong understanding of VLSI circuit design fundamentals with proven capability and experience via coursework and/or lab projects.
- Experience with RTL design and gate level simulation.
- Experience with EDA synthesis or place/route tools (Mentor, Cadence, Synopsys) in a Linux environment.
Qualities that will help your application stand out:
- Knowledge of Unix, Python/Perl, TCL and VHDL/Verilog.
- Familiarity with Unix compute environment and revisions control systems such as Git/SVN.
- Good understanding of IC backend implementation.
- FinFet process evaluation.
- Previous experience implementing Arm cores or subsystem IP.

This is a non-exempt hourly role which will be paid at an hourly rate based on the number of hours worked. Pay rates vary by location and educational level.
