Job Description:
We are looking for a passionate Python developer to join our team at the State of Nebraska in the Office of the CIO.

This IT Application Developer position on the OCIO FIN/REV team will be working with other team members on medium to complex development projects in support of critical line-of-business systems. The job will include the functional and technical design, code development, collaboration implementation, and ongoing support of medium to complex systems.

As an active part of our Agency, you will brainstorm and chalk out solutions to suit our requirements and meet our business goals. You will be responsible for developing and implementing high-quality software solutions, creating complex applications using cutting-edge programming features and frameworks.

Job duties

An IT Applications Developer will consult, code, and deploy agency solutions in the State's Cloud and Mainframe environments. This individual will also be working within the following areas:

• Develop, test and maintain high-quality software using Python programming language.
• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, building, testing and delivering high-quality solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems.
• Write clean and reusable code that can be easily maintained and scaled.
• Logical and physical database design.
• Creating and managing test data.
• Development and delivery of support material.

These job duties will be performed in conjunction with other senior and lead team members.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience as a Python Developer.
• A working understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Contributions to open-source Python projects or active involvement in the Python community.
• Familiarity with database technologies such as SQL, MySQL and DB2.
• Excellent problem-solving ability with solid communication and collaboration skills.
