Job Description:

The Nebraska Department of Revenue is seeking an experienced Senior IT Application Developer proficient in Java, SQL Server, and Oracle to work in a team environment to build and enhance software. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications that meet the business requirements of the Department. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Job Duties include:
Systems Analysis:
• Works collaboratively with end users and other stakeholders to define system requirements.
• Performs information analysis and organization.
• Estimates costs of potential application development/modification projects.

System Design & Implementation:
• Performs system analysis.
• Develops the function design.
• Develops implementation plans.
• Prepares system documentation.
• Provides on-going support.

Programming & Testing:
• Gathers requirements for data definition.
• Develops and debugs program code.
• Performs alpha/unit testing and participates in system program testing.
• Designs, builds, and maintains logical/physical data models using relational database principles.

General Duties:
• Consults with end users, peers, and management on application issues.
• Assists and mentors peers and subordinates.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Java programming language and frameworks.

• Understanding of software development principles and best practices.

• Problem solving skills and analytical skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Experience with SQL Server and Oracle database development.

• Oracle Application Express (APEX) Experience.

• Knowledge of Nebraska Tax Programs.

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).

. Experience developing MVC architectures.
