Job Description:
This OCIO IT Supervisor position in the Project Management Office would supervise the OCIO Project Management team. That team will consist of IT Lead, Senior and entry-level staff working on complex IT projects. The supervisor will manage project managers on large technology projects, therefore experience managing large customer facing technology is required. The job is in a fast-paced working environment so the candidate will need to be flexible to handle changing direction and priorities. The job includes supporting project managers, projects, business requirements gathering, task management, and developing team coordination. Assignments will bring the individual in contact with IT staff from a variety of Agencies, Boards, and Commissions within Nebraska State Government on all development platforms.

Job duties

Assign duties and tasks, evaluate performance, coordinate PMO staff training. Participate in hiring, performance reviews, grievances, and discipline. Draft policies, standards, and guidelines related to project management. Facilitate requirements gathering and documentation through structured meetings with business staff. Manage projects and portfolios in Clarity software system.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience in a related information technology discipline (network infrastructure, coding, systems or database); experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis, one year of which as a project coordinator, leader, or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Six years' experience managing technology projects using established project management methods and tools. Experience working with Waterfall, Agile and Scrum frameworks. Experience using Clarity, Open Workbench, MS Project, Azure DevOps, and Jira software systems. Experience with all aspects of the software development lifecycle and workflow, estimating and target date planning, work plan development and monitoring, quality assurance, production support, development methods/techniques and testing methods and techniques, solution development, evaluation of alternatives, and mentoring.

Other: Regular and reliable attendance is required.
