DNV - Maritime Region Americas is seeking a Junior Surveyor to join our West Coast operations in Irvine, CA. As a Junior Surveyor for the West Coast you will be member of a highly qualified team of surveyors and auditors serving the more traditional shipping segments calling ports along the U.S. West Coast, performing equipment certification at manufacturer locations and surveys/audits on ships in operation, ships under construction at locations in U.S. West Coast.

  • Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation always. Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization.
  • Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site, and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.

"DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this role is $85,000 - $100,000 USD."

What is Required
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (Degree in marine related field such as Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred) and/or equivalent
  • Behavioral competencies: Team player, but able to work independently on surveys
  • Travel requirement (% of the year) 25% per calendar year Domestic/International
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to rent and drive a car and travel on public conveyances when required
  • Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job: Working in factory / industrial settings, climbing ladders & working aloft or in enclosed spaces, flying, flying in helicopter, travel on crew boat launches, participate in voyage surveys etc
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • We conduct a pre-employment background check
What is Preferred
  • Maritime Industry experience (especially exposure to classification/statutory surveys or seagoing experience) is a plus. Required training will be provided
