Lead Medical Gas Technician-Plumber

Our Employee-Owned company has immediate full-time openings for a Plumber in the Southeast. This position will work within Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, and Federal businesses and be part of an amazing and GROWING team! All positions are regular, full-time and benefits eligible. Pay range depending on experience, skills, and knowledge.

Job Duties:
Install medical gas systems, including pipelines, valves, and outlets, in healthcare facilities to ensure a reliable supply of medical gases to patient care areas.
Perform routine maintenance on plumbing and inspections on pipes when needed.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on medical gas systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and comply with safety standards.
Respond to emergency repair needs for medical gas systems, diagnosing issues and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
Test and certify medical gas systems and components, including vacuum systems, to verify compliance with national and international standards.
Train healthcare facility staff on the proper use and safety protocols of medical gas systems to ensure safe handling and prevent accidents.
Document all installation, maintenance, and repair activities, maintaining detailed records for compliance and quality assurance purposes.
Coordinate with healthcare facility administrators and construction teams on the planning and implementation of medical gas system projects to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption to patient care.
Research and implement new technologies and methods for medical gas delivery and conservation to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Piping Installation: Precision in measuring, cutting, and joining pipes is critical for the safe and efficient transport of medical gases within healthcare facilities. Technicians use tools and materials, including copper and brazing alloys, to create systems that are leak-proof and free from contamination, supporting patient care and medical procedures.
System Testing: Medical Gas Technicians conduct thorough evaluations of medical gas systems to ensure their safety and efficiency. Through pressure tests, purity assessments, and alarm system validations, they maintain high standards of healthcare support.
Medical Gas Standards Compliance: Adhering to strict guidelines set by healthcare regulations and safety standards is a responsibility for Medical Gas Technicians. Their detailed knowledge of national and local codes ensures that medical gas systems are reliable and safe for patient care.
Equipment Calibration: Adjustments and testing of medical gas equipment are performed with precision to meet healthcare standards. By following specific protocols, technicians ensure that gas delivery systems operate optimally and safely.
Hazardous Material Handling: Safe transport, storage, and disposal of gases and chemicals are managed by medical gas technicians who follow regulatory standards and protocols. Their specialized knowledge helps prevent contamination or accidents, maintaining a secure environment in healthcare facilities.
Blueprint Reading: Technicians interpret detailed diagrams and schematics for the accurate installation, maintenance, and repair of medical gas systems. Their ability to translate complex layouts into practical applications ensures the safe delivery of services to patients.

Certifications & Licenses: Medical Gas Technicians typically require certification through the ASSE 6000 Series, specifically the ASSE 6010 for installers and ASSE 6020 for inspectors. Compliance with NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities Code is required.
