Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The School of Architecture seeks applicants for a full time non-tenured Lecturer position to begin in August 2025. Candidates will be expected to teach in the undergraduate curriculum, involving courses across a number of modalities such as design studio, history and/or theory, technical and potentially electives in areas of their specialization. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and student mentorship. Candidates will be responsible for contributing to the growing programs in the School of Architecture through innovative teaching, professional collaboration, and expanding opportunities for students.

Required Qualifications:

  • An accredited and terminal degree in architecture.
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience to teach in various levels curriculum in the School of Architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide service contribution to the university, college, school, and professional community.
Department Information:

The School of Architecture (SOA) at UTA, with over 50 years as a leading institution in the field of architectural education, is home to more than 1,100 diverse and talented students. The SOA offers a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (CIDA accredited), Master of Architecture (NAAB accredited), Master of Science in Sustainable Building Technology, and undergraduate minors in Architectural History and Environmental and Sustainability Studies. As well the School partners with the Civil Engineering Department to offer a Bachelor of Science in Architecture Engineering. In a metropolitan region rich with possibilities for research, creative practice, and cultural exploration the School maintains strong ties to the large professional design community in both Dallas and Fort Worth. It has an established record as a design school with noted strengths in the areas of making, fabrication, design communication, community-engaged design, and design-build.

The SOA is home to several active and large student organizations including the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), Latinos in Architecture (LiA), NOMAS (National Organization of Minority Architect Students), Tau Sigma Delta (TSD), Interior Design Student Group (IDSG), and US Green Building Council Students (USGBC).

Along with the School of Architecture, CAPPA includes programs in Landscape Architecture, and a Department of Public Affairs and Planning. CAPPA institutes have forged numerous partnerships throughout the DFW Metropolitan area and include Arlington Urban Design Center (AUDC), Center for Metropolitan Density (CFMD), Center for Transportation, Equity, Decisions and Dollars (CTEDD), Digital Architecture Research Consortium (DARC), David Dillon Center for Texas Architecture (DDC), and Institute of Urban Studies (IUS).
