Maintenance Technician
Shift: 1st; start between 6AM - 7:30AM
Traverse City, MI
Job Description:
This position is responsible for completing maintenance work to maintain the building and all the equipment encompassed in the Kennametal Facility. The individual will need to interact with all levels of plant personnel to resolve issues utilizing problem-solving skills, manuals, technical support, and the skills listed below to obtain sustainable resolutions with a sense of urgency in a safe manner.

- Strong Troubleshooting skills.

- Multi-Meter & Ammeter Utilization
- Single phase & 3 phase motor control
- PLC & Ladder Logic and CNC understanding

Mechanical
- Journeymen Troubleshooting skills.
- Blueprint reading
- Power tool usage capability
- Welding: Arc and/or TIG
- Machining including Mill, Lathe and Grinder functions
- Power Transmission applications knowledge (Gearboxes, sprockets, and belts)

Pneumatics / Hydraulics
- Schematic Reading
- Strong Troubleshooting skills.
- Application selection knowledge
- Standard
Must have experience with specified training in the field from a vocational school, technical college, or a journeyman card holder in a field applying to industrial maintenance. Must have reading and writing skills and be able to use computers efficiently daily. Ability to understand, follow, and push plant processes and procedures while guiding the Maintenance team. This job requires frequent walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for periods of up to 12 hours a day. Participation in the Spill Response & 1st Responder program. The Individual must be flexible to work an alternative shift plus overtime to support the business needs.
