Position Summary:

The Mortgage Sales Manager is responsible for day-to-day sales and outreach efforts within a designated geographical region with focus on establishing, strengthening, and building strong personal external referral sources for individual production. This role is responsible for mortgage production in a designated area which will result in increased membership and community brand exposure. The incumbent will manage, support and direct MLOs, establish and monitor goals, train, coach, develop action plans, and assist with developing business opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Mortgage leadership team to build a team culture of respect, growth and peer-to-peer accountability.
  • Source new leads and prospect opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships to ensure longevity of existing referral sources both internally and externally with the various Everwise business units, with a heavy focus on the Retail Network.
  • Pipeline management to ensure timelines are being met.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing and hiring of the Mortgage Loan Originators within the various regions of the Everwise footprint.
  • Coach, train, and mentor Mortgage Loan Originators to include, but not limited to: lead sourcing, external sales calls, presentations, event participation, and building relationships with various business partners in mortgage lending.
  • Work with Mortgage Loan Originators to assist with structuring loan scenarios as needed.
  • Discuss file discrepancies with MLOs and provide alternative solutions that meet the borrower's needs.
  • Handle escalated member issues and inquiries.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of various loan programs, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Assists with monthly sales reports; production and efficiency matrix, applications to denial ratios; closed loan volume to budget, and anything else needed related to analysis of mortgage production.
  • Accountable for understanding and applying government laws and regulations and TCU policies and procedures relating to the Anti-Money Laundering Regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US PATRIOT ACT and OFAC.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of the Credit Union.

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Extensive sales experience in dealing with the public and business partners to achieve volume goals within the credit union.
  • Thorough knowledge of secondary market/government loan requirements and guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements applicable to mortgage lending.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to workload; ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and mortgage systems applications, including but not limited to: Encompass and additional vendor website applications
  • Ability to analyze complex or high-end loan files according to investor and internal policy guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of loan products and underwriting guidelines pertaining to residential mortgage lending.
  • Ability to effectively manage a large volume pipeline and follow up as necessary on a consistent basis.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+years' experience in real estate residential lending
  • 3+ years of sales experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial institution products and services.
  • Must be registered with an active NMLS License ID or meet registration requirements with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System to obtain NMLS License ID.
