Job Description:
Do you enjoy helping people? The Department of Labor is seeking an Office Specialist to join our Unemployment Insurance - Reemployment Services Eligibility Assessment (UI RESEA) unit and provide office support to a team of coordinators who strive to streamline the Nebraska Department of Labor's (NDOL) services in assisting unemployed individuals returning to work quicker. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a high attention to detail, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Examples of Work

• Manages unit shared mailboxes and responds to emails accordingly; forwards to Reemployment Coordinators as needed.
• Creates Webex meeting invitations for appointments.
• Updates calendar status on completion of meetings.
• Will be the backup to the RESEA Supervisor for assigning meetings to the coordinators.
• Answers phone and addresses any inquiries or forwards to appropriate parties.
• Manages office supplies and submits orders as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Location: NDOL Administration Building, 550 South 16th Street, Lincoln
Work Schedule: 8am-5pm; Monday-Friday

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency. OR Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience/training/education in administrative/office /clerical support functions. Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Knowledge of: State and federal employment security laws; general office practices and procedures; customer service processes and principles.

Skill in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Access; use of computer; strong organizational and multitasking skills; must be detail and customer service oriented; self-motivated.

Ability to: Plan and organize work; communicate in person and by telephone, email, and other correspondence to exchange information with others; interact effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds; summarize technical data and results of research and tracking activities into reports; learn agency policies and procedures pertinent to the work assigned; maintain accurate records and documentation; maintain regular and reliable attendance.
