Description:
As an Oracle Application DBA, you will manage database administration activities for the Oracle platform. Your responsibilities will include physical database design, database refreshes, PL/SQL coding, and creating database objects (DDL/DML). You will support database changes for all releases and monitor database health and performance. Additionally, you will assist in problem resolution across development, test, and production environments, recommend technology enhancements, and provide subject matter expertise to the development team.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with development and architecture teams to engineer reliable, high-quality, and scalable database solutions.
• Perform database administration tasks in QA and development environments, including creating database objects (tables, indexes, views, packages), defining security policies, and maintaining SQL/PL-SQL and shell scripts for automation.
• Resolve complex incidents related to data issues, performance tuning, and security.
• Create and maintain roles and privileges, provide capacity projections, and monitor space utilization.
• Refresh databases and monitor Oracle processes and logs for anomalies, providing corrective actions as needed.
• Assist developers in resolving technical Oracle issues and document and implement Oracle best practices.
• Interface with developers on physical database design decisions and PL/SQL coding design.
• Act as the point of contact for all database-related issues and manage the relationship with the Optum Managed Services Oracle DBA team.
• Support all phases of the software development lifecycle and data governance processes.
• Proficient in data modeling and enforcing coding standards.
• Operate in a complex, matrixed environment, working through ambiguity and building relationships across technology teams and the business.
• Mentor and role model for other developers, earning credibility with business and technology leaders in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of Oracle 19c and technical database concepts, including logical and physical data modeling, tuning large instances, resource management, data replication, and backup/recovery techniques.
• Expert knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Experience with Oracle 19c RAC Exadata and database/system maintenance procedures.
• Expertise in using the datapump utility.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex technical problems.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle RDBMS database management in Linux.
• Strong command of database security, data recovery, performance monitoring, and tuning.
• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Unix shell scripting.
• Solid background in applications development methodologies, including SDLC and Agile (SCRUM).
• Experience with job scheduling software such as Tivoli Work Scheduler.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong interpretive skills and the ability to effectively present, negotiate, influence, and build consensus.
• Ability to interface with internal and external organizations.
• Knowledge of Snowflake and cloud concepts/technologies.
• Familiarity with other databases such as MySQL, MS SQL Server, and MongoDB.
