Job Summary
An Ambulatory Clinician in McLean Ambulatory Services is a licensed clinician (or a clinician working towards licensure) who provides clinical and administrative services in a specific ambulatory clinic program. He/she has the responsibility to provide clinical services for assigned patients, as well as to participate in the activities of the clinic program. Position involves providing individual and group therapy for patients with Bipolar and Psychotic Disorders He/she is encouraged to participate in other hospital activities including committees, teaching, and research. He/she should have demonstrated clinical experience relevant to the patient needs of the program. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides clinical services including psychotherapy and psychopharmacology (as appropriate to discipline), and coordinates the treatment of assigned patients • Maintains contact with family members as appropriate • Documents in the record by the completion of treatment plans, patient encounter forms, appropriate progress notes, clinical summaries, and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies • Serves as liaison to other health care professionals including mental health practitioners and others (e.g., PCP) • Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations • Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g., staff meetings, CQI, hospital committees, etc.) • Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues • Participates in hospital teaching and research efforts
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Appropriate to clinical discipline (e.g., MD, PhD, PsyD, MSW, APRN, etc.) INDEPENDENT license appropriate to discipline required SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: • Active interest in clinical care issues, teaching, and research preferred • Proficient in verbal and written communication
