The Department of Health and Wellness Design invites applications for a Part-Time Occupational Therapist (OT) to carry out an OT-led green activity prescription intervention for Chinese American/Cantonese groups living with memory challenges in Brooklyn, New York.

The Department of Health and Wellness Design is an academic department in the School of Public Health-Bloomington with 20+ full-time faculty, over 400 students enrolled in BS, MS, MPH, and PhD programs, and closely connected to Indiana University and Purdue University schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Informatics, Art and Design, Public and Environmental Affairs, and Public Health as well as other state entities including Regenstrief Institute, Inc., the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, IU Health and Eskenazi Health.

Job Summary

  • Completes intervention training.
  • Conducts in-person Occupational Therapy evaluation of people living with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and mild dementia (2 hours per client).
  • Conducts 4-8 in-person sessions with virtual options (2 hours).
  • Provides monitoring and support to persons living MCI and dementia, care partners, and outdoor professionals via telephone.
  • Attends every other week virtual case conference meetings during the 12-week intervention.
  • Completes post-intervention assessments and documentation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Master's degree in occupational therapy
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years practice experience with people living with dementia
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required
  • Licensed to practice occupational therapy in New York
  • Professional Liability Insurance
SKILLS

Required
  • Proficient in communication skills
Preferred
  • Multilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin and English

Additional Information

This position is temporary and has flexible start and end dates.

Work Location

Brooklyn, New York

Advertised Salary

$65.00 per hour.

Travel will be reimbursed at $0.50 a gallon or pre-paid MetroCard. OT's will receive $25 compensation for no-shows. OT's will be compensated $25 for 6 every other week case conferences during the 12-week program.

Work Hours

300 hours (or 150 hours for 2 people)

We are hiring 1 to 2 people. If 2 people, each person will work up to 150 hours.
