The Paul Freeman Financial Security Program studies and creates solutions for issues confronting a rapidly aging population and is housed within the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging (KIHA). KIHA is a cross-campus interdisciplinary institute that has the following Vision: Quality in Life, Wellness and Community. The Institute coordinates team science at DU and collaborates with other companies, institutions, and government to enhance the quality of life for older adults.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator will work with the Program Manager to support current research projects and initiatives, stakeholder, and community outreach. They will support the administrative tasks involved in leading research projects.

This is a one-year part time, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year contingent on funding.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions.
  • Community organizing skills for outreach, community engagement, and research recruitment.
  • Initiative, follow-through, and reliability.
  • Flexibility for working hours.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Mentorship of students working in the program.
  • Must be an adaptable, multi-tasking, problem-solver while showing flexibility and being an independent worker.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
  • A master's degree in social work, gerontology, or other related aging field.
  • Experience working with older adults and aging populations.
  • Experience in basic administrative tasks.
  • Interest in learning about the challenges of diverse populations, and social determinants of health.
  • Interest in learning research methods in well-being and aging.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A master's degree in social work, gerontology, or other related aging field.
  • Ability to prepare and present community education on behalf of the program.
  • Career interest in financial security, health, well-being, aging, and research.
  • Previous experience working with research participant recruitment.
Working Environment
  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is moderate to high.
Physical Activities
  • Ability to work 80% of hours in the office.
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.
Work Schedule

Part-Time, 15-19 hours per week.

The duration of this position is 1 year, contingent on funding.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $25.00-$29.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
