The Department of Pharmacy has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Pharmacy Technician 3 to work at UHealth Kendall. The Pharmacist Technician 3 prepares medications for patients under the guidance of a Pharmacist. Assists the Pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions, price-checking, and restocking of drugs, in addition to hazardous or other advanced level compounding.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.
  • Fills orders and prepares labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
  • Implements inventory control procedures and ordering supplies within regulatory guidelines.
  • Anticipates pharmacy medication dispensing needs.
  • Responsible for hazardous, specialized, or advanced level compounding, which may include chemotherapy, epidural, ophthalmology, CADD pumps, and TPNs.
  • Serves as a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, as needed.
  • May also be cross trained in major department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
  • Participates in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee.
  • Resolves problems related to prescription inquiries.
  • Performs the preceptor role in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
  • Serves as a mentor or role model.
  • Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification and Licensing:

State of FL registration; Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience

  • Skill in data entry with minimal errors.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
