Stanford's newly established Institute for Advancing Just Societies (IAJS), in collaboration with the Stanford Center on Longevity (SCL), seeks a postdoctoral fellow to work with the Institute to conduct research related to societal well-being and race/ethnicity.

IAJS and SCL are looking for a joint postdoctoral fellow who will identify key indicators of societal well-being and their relationship to racial and ethnic equality in long-lived societies. The fellow may conduct ongoing research in this area while helping the Institute identify indicators that are adaptable across societies and can be updated over time.

The fellow will work with IAJS faculty directors, Brian Lowery and Tomás Jiménez and professional Institute staff. In addition, NMOL fellows attend weekly seminars with other New Map of Life fellows designed to provide a multi-disciplinary overview of the field while creating a community of longevity scholars. While most of the postdoc's time will be dedicated to the project described above, there is also an opportunity to conduct related independent research. The initial appointment will be for one year (with the potential to renew for a second year). Salary is standardized based on Stanford University guidelines. Benefits are provided.

To be successful in this role, the applicant will have a Ph.D. in any discipline received within the last three years, with a preference for a scholar with a background in social science, data science, public health/health policy, demography, or statistics. The applicant should have a range of statistical and data skills, including graduate-level knowledge of data management and analysis. Experience managing large datasets and executing data analysis in complex environments is highly valued.
