WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Regional People Director will act as a people leader and business partner to a designated region of VEG hospitals. The role works closely with our Market Owners, Regional teams and Local Leaders to ensure a consistent approach to People strategy and initiatives including employee relations, talent management, performance management, compensation and benefits. They will work closely with leadership to drive organizational effectiveness and ensure a best-in-class employee experience. This role and the team they manage are critical to managing the complexities of our fast-paced environment and supporting leaders as they navigate rapid growth and change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead with an Ownership Mindset: This involves embracing a sense of personal responsibility and initiative within a specific region, treating regional goals and challenges as one's own. It means actively seeking ways to enhance processes, drive regional success, and contribute to overall VEG objectives. You lead by example and create a culture of ownership at every level within your region.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute regional People strategy in conjunction with Regional partners ensuring it is aligned with VEG's overall mission, goals and People strategy. Collaborate with other departments across VEG to ensure your region's people needs are met.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the senior advisor to Regional/Local leaders and People Partners in managing complex employee relations issues, ensuring consistency, compliance with employment laws and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Organizational Development: Drive organizational effectiveness through leadership coaching, performance management, succession planning, and change management.
  • Culture and Engagement: Champion the VEG Way and our values including promoting a culture of continuous improvement, open communication and inclusion. Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Talent Management: Work with managers to identify staffing needs, implement succession planning to ensure each hospital has the right mix of skilled veterinary staff. Collaborate with our L&D and Leadership Development teams to support learning initiatives and address skills gaps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Legal, Payroll and other areas of People to ensure alignment of initiatives and delivery of broader People objectives (Talent, L&D, DEI, Total Rewards and Leadership Development)
  • Compliance: Ensure regional compliance with all relevant employment laws, safety regulations, and internal policies.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage HR analytics to identify trends and make data-driven decisions to improve employee outcomes.
  • Special Projects: As needed for region and/or VEG overall.

WHO YOU ARE
  • 10+ years of progressive People experience required with multi-site experience strongly preferred.
  • A record of success in driving People policies and practices to achieve positive organizational change that enhances employee experience and builds on company culture.
  • Demonstrated HR acumen with strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience managing complex employee relations issues, facilitating difficult conversations and conflict management.
  • General knowledge of HR practices including benefits, compensation, employment law, performance management, employee relations policies and procedures, learning and development and recruiting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related preferred.
  • Ability to comfortably and effectively interact with and influence leaders
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability: ability to successfully work under pressure, respond to shifting needs, and manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and data interface, as well as the ability to use HR metrics to tell a story and facilitate decision making.
  • High professional standards; strong customer service mentality; can be trusted to maintain confidentiality; is optimistic and possesses a "can-do" attitude.
  • Ability to travel up to 50-70% of the time
  • PHR, or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
