Duties: The major job duty of this position involves using a transposon to mutagenize vibrio cholerae, a bacterial pathogen that causes serious infectious disease cholera. The transposon libraries will be analyzed for virulence gene expression changes by performing luminescence assays and PCR analysis. The desired mutants will be selected based on the phenotypic variations and gene expression profile changes Transposon insertions will be identified by arbitrary PCR and/or Next Generation Sequencing. Bioinformatic analysis will be performed to further characterize the data set. Position duties include experimental work, literature searches, presentations, and general lab administration.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
