Senior Application Analyst - Mainframe Systems (Payment Transaction Settlement)

Location: Berkeley Heights, NJ

Duration: 6+ Months Contract to hire




Role Overview: Join our dynamic team as a Senior Application Analyst, where you will leverage your expertise in mainframe systems to enhance our Payment Transaction Settlement (PTS) platforms. This role involves comprehensive system support, application delivery, and innovative problem-solving within a mainframe environment. You will play a pivotal role in system enhancements, disaster recovery, and client-focused programming initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and refine program logic for new and existing applications.
• Optimize mainframe code performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage deployment processes.
• Craft and test new application software, focusing on online and batch processing for credit and debit card transactions.
• Enhance COBOL programs to streamline merchant funding and billing processes.
• Conduct thorough unit testing and provide strategic code development guidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement tailored business solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders to define system specifications and validate design documents.
• Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring adherence to technology standards and project goals.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 6+ years in a related field.
• Profound knowledge of mainframe technologies including IBM JCL, COBOL, VSAM, IDMS, and associated utilities.
• Proven track record with payment processing systems and familiarity with the Waterfall SDLC.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree or technology certifications.
• Expertise in international credit and debit card processing systems.
• Strong understanding of Merchant Acquirer Information Security principles.
• Experience with payment authorization, fraud detection, and payment processing platforms.
